Friends-
How did I not know this book existed.
It is like Outlander and ACOTAR had a Werewolf baby.
It is 100% right up my alley and I am so grateful the cover jumped off the shelf and slapped me in the face at Target.
I tend to like strong smart female leads, and Aurora starts out very innocent. She is in a time where women don't have power and are kept from/out of things... so I try to keep that in mind and my irritation with her lessens. She is smart for the position she holds and the life she lives... and she knows how to play the political games to benefit the men around her. I do warm up to her as the story progresses... because I remember what it is like to be 20.
Callum.... starts off scary but really slides into my golden retriever loving heart VERY quickly...
Which is terrifying because I think we all have PTSD from Tamlin and his exploits ...
Blake comes in and I'm not sure how I feel about him yet... is this our next Rhys? Because right now I love to hate him...
James- ew- why? I hate this guy.... I wish there was slightly more character development here... I am assuming he will play a bigger role in the stories that follow... But for now... I just hate him.
I loved the foreshadowing throughout the books- I think it was wonderfully done.
Spice level: 2/5
This story was a much needed slow burn... but when it got there I thought It was hotttt...
There is a lot of spicy language later... but whew I loved the build up to to the first time. I did enjoy that this story was A STORY with a few spicy scenes as opposed to just a straight Smutty read...
When I was able to sit down and devour the book I sure did.
If you like wolves and loved ACOTAR... and men in kilts do it for you lass-
Give The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman a read! It has been my favorite story since ACOTAR a few years ago.
